Where I've Been
Me, at the Nashville Film Festival in 2014
|
When I was 13, I sold an original song to the feature film "Ask Me Anything". I flew to Nashville to attend the premiere and I instantly fell in love with the world of professional songwriting. By 14, I had released a self-produced EP of originals on iTunes, Spotify, etc. I even got my music on Pandora! For years I've been playing live shows and songwriting showcases, hoping to break through to the next level. At school, I founded Jam Club, a group of amazing musicians. We perform all around Simi Valley and we've been mentioned in the Simi Valley Acorn, The Ventura County Star, and on The Ranch! I'm also an avid choir nerd, having belonged to Santa Su's Women's, Advanced Women's, and Abbe Road Choirs. I've been able to perform at Nancy Reagan's funeral, Disneyland's Candlelight Ceremony, and numerous other events with said choirs. When I'm not performing, I'm constantly arranging music, concerts, and writing songs.

Where I'm Going
People always tell me I have to "go into music." I'm hoping to attend a four-year university to study songwriting, music production, and arranging later this year. I want to eventually run my own studio or be a writer for an A-list artist. So, why this project?
I'm the musician I am today because of how I've been inspired by my peers. In choir, Jam Club, and in similar other programs, I've met mind-blowingly talented kids. Seeing people my age making such amazing music is so encouraging. I started Jam Club to inspire others, just the way I was when I first saw Abbe Road A Capella perform. It has been such a huge success, so when I was deciding on a senior project, it only made sense to expand the club so that even more kids could experience music in the same way. Jam Club Junior exposes young kids to the power of music. Getting these kids interested in music can actually have a life-changing effect and it is so rewarding to teach them. |
